Dear Colleagues,
Bob Deacon was a great mentor and a source of inspiration for those who have been studying post-Soviet social policy. I met Bob Deacon in 2016 at the ISA Conference in Vienna, when he was looking for researchers to bring together for a discussion of post-Soviet social policy and social transformation. His idea was realized last summer, and a successful and thought-provoking workshop in St-Petersburg has led naturally to the book project, in which Bob Deacon was deeply involved. It is so sad that he could not complete this project. Such a huge loss for the field of social policy, but even more so for the scholars of post-Soviet social policy.
